Kundalini

Kundalini is a project that was conceived and developed as a measure to popularize the role of Information Technology in Indian languages. Standing for Knowledge, Understanding, Acquisition of Languages, Inferencing and Interpretation, this project has up to Rs. 14.55 crore earmarked to develop software that enhances the involvement of IT in various languages, especially Sanskrit.

Based on recommendations of the IT Task Force on Information Technology and Software Development Action Plan-I, Kundalini's objective is to appreciate and absorb Information Technology in order to derive its associated benefits by way of enhanced productivity, faster business transactions and better management of socio-economic activities.

The scheme is located at various Sanskrit educational and Research and Development institutions and centres around the country.
It will also have linkages with

- TIDES (Transnational Information Detection, Extraction, and Summarisation) of USA
- HLT (Human Language Technologies) of the EU
- UNL (Universal Networking Language) of the UN university
- CICC (Center of Internation Co-operation for computerization) of Japan
and others.
